AIRS SPACE HERITAGE
NASA LANGLEY ARCSTONE PROGRAM
ARCSTONE is a small satellite in low Earth orbit program equipped
with a spectrometer that provides lunar spectral reflectance with
accuracy sufficient to establish an SI-traceable absolute lunar
calibration standard for Earth weather and climate sensors.
The sensor package features an AIRS Extended SWIR HOT MCT
IDCA with a Flexure Bearing Linear cooler designed for space
instruments.
JPL HyTI PROGRAM
The JPL HyTI CubeSat program features a Hyperspectral Thermal
Imager with an embedded interferometer to monitor crop health
and watering efficiency.
The sensor package, manufactured by AIRS consists of a LWIR
high-speed FPA, a flexure bearing cooler, and AIRS proximity
electronics to operate the IDCA
JHU/APL CMIS Cloud and 3D Wind Program
The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory
(JHU/APL) developed the Compact Midwave Imaging
Sensor (CMIS). This space bound instrument will provide
a multi-spectral sensor capable of resolving 3D wind and
cloud heights for space and defense applications.
The AIRS designed IDCA integrates a special multispectral
stripe filter precisely aligned to FPA.
JHU/APL CIRAS CubeSat Infrared Atmospheric Sounder Program
The CubeSat Infrared Atmospheric Sounder delivers critical
atmospheric and meteorological measurement for climate
monitoring in a significantly smaller package.
The AIRS IDCA design features multiple special cold filters.
